Berlin is a studio album by American musician Lou Reed, originally released in 1973. Despite not being a commercial success upon its initial release, it has since been recognized as one of Reed's most important and controversial works. The album is a dark and melancholic narrative about two drug addicts in the city of Berlin, exploring themes of love, addiction, violence, and despair. Musically, Berlin is a rock album with influences from glam rock and art rock, featuring poetic lyrics and orchestral arrangements.
