«Blues for the New Millennium» is the jazz album by pianist Marcus Roberts, released by Columbia on CD in 1997.
The album combines original compositions with versions of blues classics performed on piano by Marcus Roberts, with the support of a band that includes wind and rhythm sections. Notable tracks include «Jungle Blues», «Heart of the Blues» and «Express Mail Delivery», in a repertoire that looks both to tradition and to a more contemporary sound.
The CD has 14 tracks and was produced by Marcus Roberts himself. Musicians participating in the recording include Jason Marsalis on drums, Roland Guerin on bass and Marcus Printup on trumpet.
Recommended for fans of jazz piano and acoustic-focused blues, especially followers of post-bop and traditional jazz.
