«Boccaccio» is the CD of selections from Franz von Suppé's operetta, with Anneliese Rothenberger, Edda Moser and Hermann Prey, released by EMI.
The operetta, set in 14th-century Florence, combines romance and comedy in a story of love and entanglements. This CD brings together its most representative moments, including the overture, «Hab' ich nur deine Liebe» and «Florenz hat schöne Frauen», in a choral and orchestral performance conducted by Willi Boskovsky.
Selection (Querschnitt/Highlights) from the three-act operetta, sung in German; 1975 recording digitally remastered in 1987 (ref. CDM 7 69096 2, total duration 67'47).
For fans of operetta and classical recordings with choral cast and symphony orchestra.
