«Die Schöpfung» (The Creation) is the oratorio by Joseph Haydn, released in 2002 by Philips, in a double CD edition.
The work recreates musically the creation of the world according to the biblical account of Genesis, with interventions of the choir and solo voices over the orchestral accompaniment. Among its passages are «Und Gott macht es wieder Licht» and «Und es ward Licht genug!», moments in which the orchestra illustrates the appearance of light.
Recording with Edith Mathis, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Aldo Baldin, with the Chorus & Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and under the direction of Sir Neville Marriner. It is presented on two discs.
