«El Cantante» is Andrés Calamaro's covers album, released in 2004 by Wea Int'l, on CD.
El Cantante brings together covers of tango, bolero and Latin American song classics, with tracks by Roberto Carlos and Atahualpa Yupanqui, and three original compositions: «Estadio Azteca», «La libertad» and «Las oportunidades». Standouts include «Malena», «Volver» and «Algo contigo», in a register closer to intimate song than rock.
The digipack CD edition, with one disc, was published by Gasa, Warner Music Argentina and DRO EastWest S.A.; its catalogue number is 5046719732.
For fans of Andrés Calamaro and Latin music who want to discover his more interpretive side.
