«El Cordel de la Memoria» is a compilation of traditional Leonese music by Son Del Cordel, released in 2002 by Tecnosaga on CD.
The album brings together fourteen pieces from the Leonese oral tradition, recorded with voices, frame drums, bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy and percussion. The group perpetuates the memory of their informants and teachers, who passed on this repertoire, and includes tracks such as «Un barco veo venir», «El caballero de Bembibre» or «Jotas babianas».
The voices are by Marisa Diez, María José Porto and Viki Herrero; Manuel de San Mateo, Fernando de San Mateo and Luis Santos play various traditional instruments.
For fans of traditional music and Leonese folklore, interested in recordings that preserve the orally transmitted generational repertoire.
