The World Saxophone Quartet performs eight pieces by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn with arrangements by its own members (Julius Hemphill, David Murray, Hamiet Bluiett and Oliver Lake). The sound, saxophones only, ranges from the swing of «Take the A Train» and the elegance of «Sophisticated Lady» to the nocturnal atmosphere of «Lush Life».
The CD includes eight tracks; the compositions are by Duke Ellington except where noted. Catalog code: 7559-79137-2.
