«Finlandia / Karelia Suite» is the album by Jean Sibelius with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy, released in 1988 by Decca on CD.
The album brings together several orchestral works by Jean Sibelius linked to nature and the Finnish imagination, such as the symphonic poem «Finlandia», the «Karelia Suite» and «Tapiola». Ashkenazy's conducting highlights both the energy of the collective passages and the atmosphere of the lyrical moments.
One-disc album from Decca's Ovation series, with digital recording; the performances were recorded in the early and mid-1980s.
For classical music listeners interested in Sibelius's orchestral repertoire and in Ashkenazy's versions with the Philharmonia Orchestra.
