«Gorillaz» is the self-titled debut album by Gorillaz, released in 2001 by EMI Import on CD.
The virtual band's album fuses alternative rock, hip hop, electronica and funk with a lo-fi, experimental aesthetic, combining pop hooks, danceable rhythms and melancholic atmospheres. It includes 'Clint Eastwood', '19-2000' and 'Tomorrow Comes Today', with lyrics that move between alienation and consumerism.
Imported CD edition of one disc, with a Parental Advisory warning for explicit content.
For listeners of Britpop, experimental hip hop and electronica looking for a 2000s classic with a strong visual identity.
