«Gould: String Quartet No. 1» is the album by Glenn Gould with The Symphonia Quartet, released in 2007 by Sony Music on CD.
This recording features the String Quartet Op. 1, the only large-scale work Glenn Gould completed as a composer, in the version by The Symphonia Quartet. Post-Romantic in style with pronounced counterpoint, the piece reveals Gould's lesser-known side as a composer.
The recording is part of the Glenn Gould Jubilee Edition series and consists of a single disc, with cover art reproducing the original Columbia Masterworks recording artwork.
For collectors and fans of twentieth-century chamber music, especially followers of Glenn Gould interested in his compositional side.
