The disc brings together the best-known passages from two Puccini operas: the love of Rodolfo and Mimì in «La Bohème» and the drama of Cio-Cio-San in «Madame Butterfly». Claire Rutter performs Mimì and Cio-Cio-San; David Abell conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Highlights include «Che gelida manina», «Sì, mi chiamano Mimì» and «Un bel dì».
The recording totals 78:30 and consists of 18 tracks on one CD; it is a «High Quality Audiophile Edition», with voices in Italian.
For those new to opera, this CD presents Puccini scenes with orchestra and soloists.
