«HMS Pinafore Highlights» is the compilation album by Gilbert & Sullivan, released by Decca London on CD.
This CD brings together the most notable passages of the comic operetta HMS Pinafore, performed by the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. The work satirizes love, social class and life in the British Royal Navy through the romance between sailor Ralph Rackstraw and Josephine, the captain's daughter. It includes celebrated numbers such as «I'm called Little Buttercup», «Never mind the why and wherefore» and «He is an Englishman», representative of Gilbert & Sullivan's musical wit.
Released under the London label, it belongs to the Weekend Classics series and was recorded by the D'Oyly Carte ensemble.
Recommended for fans of operetta and classic British musical theater productions, as well as for those who enjoy the repertoire of Gilbert & Sullivan.
