«Hofmann: Flute Concertos Vol. 2» is the classical music album by Leopold Hofmann that brings together four flute concertos, released by Naxos on CD.
It brings together four flute concertos by Leopold Hofmann (D3, G3, D4 and e1 according to Badley). The D3, announced in the 1767 Breitkopf Catalogue, stands out for its finale in Tempo di Menuet, unusual for Hofmann. The G3 survives only as an autograph score, without orchestral parts, which raises doubts as to whether it was ever performed.
The performance is by Kazunori Seo (flute) and the Nicolaus Esterházy Sinfonia, conducted by Béla Drahos. Recorded in Budapest from 7 to 9 November 1999; duration 70'48".
For listeners interested in the concerto repertoire of Viennese Classicism and in the figure of Leopold Hofmann, a contemporary of Haydn.
