«Il Settimo Libro Di Madrigali» is the madrigal album by Giaches de Wert with The Consort of Musicke conducted by Anthony Rooley, released on CD in 1989.
The album presents the seventh book of madrigals by Giaches de Wert, a cycle representative of the Italian Renaissance madrigal. The Consort of Musicke, directed by Anthony Rooley, performs these polyphonic pieces with early music principles, showing the expressive and contrapuntal richness of the composer's late work.
The seventh book was originally published in 1581; this 1989 recording is digital (DDD) and is presented on a single CD.
For fans of Renaissance madrigals and early music performances with vocal ensemble.
