«In a Mellotone» is the jazz album by Johnny Hodges and Wild Bill Davis, released in 1990 on the Bluebird label (RCA/BMG) on CD.
«In a Mellotone» brings together ten jazz tracks featuring Johnny Hodges' saxophone and Wild Bill Davis' organ. The repertoire combines Duke Ellington standards such as 'Just Squeeze Me' and 'It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)' with original pieces like 'Taffy' and 'L. B. Blues'.
The original recordings for «In a Mellotone» were made on September 10 and 11, 1966; the reissue was mixed and mastered in May 1990 at BMG Studios in New York.
For fans of big band jazz and swing, especially those who enjoy saxophone and organ duos from the sixties.
