«Junior» is the jazz album by Junior Mance, released in 2011 by Essential Jazz Classics on CD.
Album that marked Junior Mance's debut as a leader, recorded in New York on April 9, 1959 with Ray Brown on double bass and Lex Humphries on drums. It brings together ten jazz tracks, including «A Smooth One», «Whisper Not» and «Love for Sale».
The edition adds as an extra two tracks from a 1954 session with Israel Crosby and Buddy Smith, plus «Stella by Starlight», recorded in 1957 with Sam Jones and Jimmy Cobb.
For fans of classic jazz and swing piano: this reissue recovers the debut that Down Beat magazine praised in its original review.
