«Le Patient Anglais» is the original soundtrack album by Gabriel Yared with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, released on CD by EastWest in 1997.
Gabriel Yared's orchestral music recreates the romantic and tragic atmosphere of «The English Patient»: intimate and sweeping textures evoke the Sahara desert, wartime memories, and the film's central love story. The album combines classical passages and jazz moments, with pieces that underscore both passion and melancholy.
The cover, in French, reads «bande originale du film» and mentions the award for best film music given to Gabriel Yared. The album came as a single CD, with European editions from 1996 and 1997 depending on the EastWest label.
It will appeal to collectors and soundtrack lovers, especially those seeking the music of «The English Patient» in its European CD edition.
