«L’Orchestre du Roi Soleil» is the album by Jean-Baptiste Lully with Le Concert des Nations and Jordi Savall, released in 1999 by Alia Vox on CD.
The album brings together symphonies, overtures and instrumental airs that Jean-Baptiste Lully composed for the court of Louis XIV. Le Concert des Nations and Jordi Savall perform them on period instruments and include suites from «Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme», «Alceste» and «Le Divertissement Royal», representative pieces of the French Baroque.
Catalogue number AV 9807 from Alia Vox and a single disc; the repertoire combines the Baroque with the suite form.
Will appeal to fans of the French Baroque and to historically informed performances on period instruments.
