«Malhun of Meknes» is the traditional Moroccan music album by El Hadj Houcine Toulali, released in 1999 by Institut d (Harmonia Mundi) on CD.
Malhun is a form of sung poetry from Morocco, and this record brings together pieces from that repertoire performed by El Hadj Houcine Toulali. The voice declaims the poems over an accompaniment of classical Moroccan music, offering a representative sample of the country's traditional art.
The CD consists of a single disc and the pieces come from the traditional Moroccan repertoire.
For listeners interested in traditional and world music, especially the sound heritage of Morocco and the Maghreb.
