«Messe de Machaut» is the classical music album by Jean-Michel Bossini and the Ensemble 2746 ap. Rome, released in 1998 by L'Empreinte Digitale on CD.
The Ensemble 2746 ap. Rome takes Guillaume de Machaut's mass and recreates it with a broad instrumentation: flutes, saxophone, violin, guitar, accordion, keyboards and percussion. The album combines pieces such as «Kyrie», «Gloria» and «Credo» with ten Gregorian chants, blending medieval tradition with free improvisation.
The CD includes 20 tracks with a total duration of 39'15; the booklet contains the original texts and notes in French and English.
For classical music fans seeking contemporary recreations of medieval repertoire, with improvisation and unusual instrumentation.
