«Mozart: Symphonies Nos. 40 & 41 'Jupiter'» is the album by Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, released in 2003 on Elatus, on CD.
The program brings together two Mozart symphonies: Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550, with its famous opening Molto allegro, and Symphony No. 41 in C major, K. 551, 'Jupiter', whose final Molto allegro stands out for its contrapuntal writing. In this version, Harnoncourt highlights the drama of the former and the festive character of the latter.
The recording lasts 74 minutes and fits on a single disc; the booklet includes texts in German, English and French.
For classical music listeners seeking a recording of Mozart's Symphonies 40 and 41 conducted by Harnoncourt.
