«Oedipus Rex» is the opera-oratorio album by Igor Stravinsky, released in 1993 by EMI Classics on CD.
Opera-oratorio in two acts based on Sophocles' tragedy, centered on King Oedipus and his tragic fate. The score combines choral passages and soloists with an orchestra, in a language close to Stravinsky's neoclassicism.
London Philharmonic Orchestra and London Philharmonic Choir, conducted by Franz Welser-Möst. Soloists include Anthony Rolfe Johnson, Marjana Lipovšek, John Tomlinson and Alastair Miles.
For classical music and opera fans, especially those interested in Stravinsky's choral and orchestral works.
