«Orchestral Miniatures» is the classical music album by Edward Elgar, with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and James Judd, released in 2006 by Naxos on CD.
The album brings together short orchestral pieces by Edward Elgar, with immediate melody and evocative charm. It includes the Froissart overture, inspired by John Keats and the composer's first work to gain national recognition, the delicate Chanson de Matin and Chanson de Nuit, originally for violin, and the Romance for bassoon and orchestra.
Recorded at the Michael Fowler Centre, in Wellington (New Zealand), in April 2004. Catalog number: 8.557577. Scottwood Series.
For fans of Romantic classical music who want to discover Elgar's less common British orchestral repertoire.
