«Ouverture 1812 / Capriccio Italien / Marche Slave» is the classical music album by Tchaikovsky, released in 1990 by Deutsche Grammophon on CD.
The 1812 Overture evokes the Russian defense against the Napoleonic invasion in a piece of great drama and orchestral breadth. Capriccio Italien brings an Italian air, while Marche Slave imparts a Slavic character, and the three works show Tchaikovsky's mastery of symphonic color.
The performance is by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Barenboim. CD edition with a single disc, reference 400 035-2.
For classical music enthusiasts interested in Tchaikovsky's orchestral work.
