«Pictures at an Exhibition / La Valse» is the album by Modest Mussorgsky and Maurice Ravel with the London Symphony Orchestra and Claudio Abbado, on CD.
The CD brings together Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition in Ravel's orchestration, with episodes such as «Gnomus» and «The Great Gate of Kiev», and adds La Valse, a choreographic poem by Ravel. Abbado and the London Symphony Orchestra highlight the orchestral color and narrative character of these scores.
Released by Deutsche Grammophon in 1983 (ref. 410 033-2), it is a single-disc CD with digital recording.
For fans of classical music and orchestral versions of the Romantic repertoire.
