«Pièces en trio» is the album by Marin Marais and the Ensemble Fitzwilliam, released in 1991 by Astree, on CD.
The CD brings together chamber pieces by the French Baroque composer Marin Marais performed by the Ensemble Fitzwilliam. These are trio suites from the late 17th century, courtly in spirit, where the viola da gamba and the flute hold a central place; the writing combines melodic elegance and technical demands, in line with French music of the period.
Digital recording (DDD) in stereo, issued on a single CD.
Recommended for fans of Baroque music and French chamber repertoire, especially works for viola da gamba and flute.
