Pleasures of the Night

Synopsis of Pleasures of the Night

This first pairing of R&B song stylist Will Downing with soulful sax man Gerald Albright is nothing short of inspired, providing two of the '80s' most popular performers with a chance to showcase their jazz chops. Pleasures of the Night features a diverse range of material, including The Beatles' "Michelle," Stevie Wonder's "Girl Blue," and standards like "The Nearness of You." Produced by longtime Downing collaborator Ronnie Foster, the album's guest stars include top players like Patrice Rushen, Bobby Lyle, Paul Jackson, Abe Laboriel, and Harvey Mason. A significant creative departure for Downing, this album promises a whole new career chapter, blending traditional R&B with contemporary jazz sensibilities.
