«Polonaises Volume 2» is the album by Fryderyk Chopin performed by Idil Biret, released in 1999 on the Naxos label on CD.
The program brings together a wide selection of Chopin's polonaises: the three published as Op. 71, several youthful pieces and the Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise brillante in E-flat major Op. 22. Idil Biret delivers a reading of great stature, with moments of lyricism, brilliance and solemnity that reflect the character of this Polish dance.
This release is volume 9 of the Complete Piano Music series. The recording, made in Heidelberg in April 1991, won the Grand Prix du Disque Chopin 1995. Total duration is 76:30.
For classical music enthusiasts, especially those who appreciate Romantic piano and complete editions of Chopin's works.
