«Rita Streich: Waltzes & Arias» is the compilation album by Rita Streich, released in 2011 by Newton Classics, on CD.
Rita Streich shows off her coloratura in vocal waltzes, songs and arias from opera and operetta, with recordings from the 1950s. It includes «Voces de primavera» by Johann Strauss, the «Canción de la sombra» from Dinorah by Meyerbeer and «Canción a la luna» from Rusalka by Dvorák, along with pieces by Delibes, Suppé, Saint-Saëns, Verdi, Arditi and Godard.
Rita Streich is accompanied by the Radio-Symphonie Orchester Berlin and the RIAS-Symphonie Orchester Berlin, conducted by Kurt Gaebel.
The album will appeal to those who enjoy the light soprano voice and the classic Viennese operetta repertoire.
