«Romances for Saxophone» is the classical music album by saxophonist Branford Marsalis, released in 1986 by Sony Music Entertainment, on CD.
Branford Marsalis moves away from jazz and takes on a classical repertoire: pieces by Debussy, Fauré, Rachmaninoff and Ravel, with arrangements by Michel Colombier and the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by Andrew Litton. Marsalis's soprano saxophone replaces the solo vocal or instrumental lines in a collection that unites classical technique and melodic sensibility.
For lovers of classical and chamber music and for fans of Branford Marsalis interested in his work outside jazz.
