«Rufus Wainwright» is the self-titled debut album by Rufus Wainwright, released in 1998 on Geffen on CD.
The album features twelve pop rock compositions with chamber arrangements and an acoustic approach, with Wainwright's voice between ballad and theatrical register. Notable songs include 'Foolish Love', 'Danny Boy' and 'April Fools', representative of that blend of singer-songwriter and chamber music.
Jon Brion produces the album; Van Dyke Parks contributes to several tracks and Lenny Waronker serves as executive producer. The edition includes 12 songs and 53 minutes in length.
For listeners of alternative pop rock and singer-songwriter music who appreciate productions with chamber arrangements and a lead voice.
