«Russian Cossack Music from the Urals» is the album by the Original Ural Kosaken choir, released in 1990 by LaserLight Digital on CD.
The Original Ural Kosaken choir performs fifteen pieces from the musical tradition of the Ural Cossacks: Orthodox prayers, liturgical chants and folk melodies such as 'Kalinka', 'The Lonely Bell' and 'Song of the Volga Boat Men'. The ensemble combines a cappella passages with balalaika and organ accompaniment, with a predominance of low voices.
Conducted by Michail Minsky, the single-disc CD contains 15 tracks and about 54 minutes of music, as part of the International Passport series from LaserLight Digital, a label of Delta Music.
Suitable for fans of Russian choral music, Slavic folklore and collections of traditional Cossack repertoire.
