«Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon» is the album by Devendra Banhart, released in 2007 by XL Recordings on CD, in a limited deluxe edition.
Recorded in spring 2007 in a studio set up in a house in Topanga Canyon (California), the album abandons the freak folk label to adopt a classic, luminous rock. It alternates intimate, solipsistic pieces, some with a tropicalist accent, with others of epic electricity and psychedelic air.
Single-disc album, framed in rock with folk rock and acoustic styles.
For listeners of indie, folk rock and classic psychedelic rock, as well as for those seeking an author-driven record with Californian roots.
