«Spiral» is the electronic music album by Vangelis, released in 1977 and reissued on CD by BMG.
Vangelis composes, arranges and performs all instruments on an album of atmospheric electronics where synthesizers and sequences create enveloping soundscapes. «Ballad», «Dervish D» and «To the Unknown Man» are three of its standout tracks; the second is inspired by the whirling of the dervish dancer as an image of the spiral of the universe.
Recorded at Nemo Studios (London, 1977), it brings together the five tracks of the original album and was released in Europe with catalogue number ND70568.
For fans of 1970s electronic music, ambient and synth-pop, as well as for anyone wanting to discover Vangelis's work.
