«Spirit of the Glen: Journey» is the second album by Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, released in 2008 on Universal Classics & Jazz, on CD.
The album blends the tradition of Scottish bagpipes with solemn arrangements and pieces such as «Abide With Me», «Greensleeves» and «Auld Lang Syne». Several tracks were recorded at the British base in Basra (Iraq) during the regiment's deployment, making it one of the first musical recordings made from a war front.
The CD is an enhanced edition and includes a booklet with photographs taken in Basra and a video about the recording.
Aimed at fans of traditional Scottish music and those who value recordings with historical and documentary background.
