«Sweetheart of the Rodeo» is the album by The Byrds, in its 1997 remastered reissue released by Sony Music on CD.
Originally released in 1968, it marks The Byrds' total immersion in country after their psychedelic phase; the pedal steel guitar becomes the center of a sound that laid the foundations of country rock. With the addition of Gram Parsons, it includes tracks such as «Hickory Wind», «You Ain't Goin' Nowhere» and «Pretty Boy Floyd».
This 1997 CD reissue includes 19 tracks, eight of them bonus tracks, remastered by Vic Anesini at Sony Music Studios; the original recordings were produced by Gary Usher.
For fans of country rock and of The Byrds' era with Gram Parsons, it is a reference title in the genre.
