The recordings, conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy leading the Philharmonia Orchestra, traverse the composer's orchestral language, between Romanticism and modernity, with moments of great expressive power and brilliant orchestration.
2-CD edition from the Double Decca series, released by Decca in 1998. Includes Finlandia, Op. 26, and the Karelia Suite, in addition to Symphonies 1, 2 and 4.
