Mahler's Symphony No. 3 is a large-scale work in six movements. The texts of the fourth and fifth, sung by the soprano and the choirs, come from Friedrich Nietzsche and «Des Knaben Wunderhorn». Its movements include «Kräftig. Entschieden», «Tempo di Menuetto» and «Langsam. Ruhevoll. Empfunden».
Performance by the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Claudio Abbado, with soprano Jessye Norman, the Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor choir and the Wiener Sängerknaben.
