«Tchaikovsky: Piano Concerto No. 1 / Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No. 2» is the CD by Sviatoslav Richter and Baloghová with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Karel Ančerl.
It brings together two piano concertos from the Russian repertoire: Tchaikovsky's No. 1 in B-flat minor, with Sviatoslav Richter as soloist, and Prokofiev's No. 2 in G minor, with Baloghová. The former includes the Allegro non troppo e molto maestoso; the latter, its four-movement structure, with a lively Scherzo and a tempestuous Finale.
Recorded in the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague: the Tchaikovsky concerto, op. 23, on 4 and 5 June 1954; the Prokofiev, op. 16, from 14 to 16 October 1963. 1 disc.
For classical music listeners interested in the Russian piano repertoire and historical recordings with Sviatoslav Richter and Karel Ančerl.
