«The Christmas Story» is the sacred music album by composer Heinrich Schütz, released in 1996 by Naxos on CD.
The CD combines the Story of Christmas, which develops the account of Christ's birth through evangelist recitatives, choruses and instrumental interludes, with a selection of Cantiones sacrae and Psalm 100, two examples of Schütz's religious music.
Recorded in 1995 at Hertford College, Oxford; Oxford Camerata conducted by Jeremy Summerly, with Paul Agnew (evangelist), Anna Crookes (angel) and Michael McCarthy (Herod). Naxos, cat. 8.553514.
For listeners interested in Baroque sacred music and Naxos's early music recordings.
