«The Platters Collection» is the compilation by The Platters, released in 1999 by Purple Flame as a double CD.
A compilation of forty classics by The Platters, a vocal group of doo-wop and soul whose harmonies and romantic ballads characterized that sound in the mid-20th century. The selection brings together representative recordings from their repertoire in a two-CD edition.
The cover subtitle is «40 Doo-wop Classics»; the edition consists of two CDs and belongs to the Purple Flame label.
A fitting title for fans of doo-wop and classic soul, and for collectors of mid-20th-century vocal music.
