«The Spell» is the folk and field recordings album by various artists, released in 2011 on CD and DVD.
Simon Emmerson and Mark Constantine combine British folk, field recordings and bird song for a soundtrack designed for Lush spas. The pieces are shared between Walking With Ghosts, The Nightjar Orchestra and The Petrels, with voices such as Jackie Oates and Belinda O'Hooley. The opening track, The Spell, is by Ali Friend.
The release includes two discs: the second is an NTSC DVD-Video. It was published in the UK with catalogue number LUSH 004, within the Fresh Handmade Sound project.
For listeners of ambient British folk and nature recordings; its origin as spa music makes it suitable for relaxed listening.
