«Vespers Op 37» is the choral music album by Sergei Rachmaninoff, performed by Corydon Singers and Matthew Best, released by Hyperion on CD.
Rachmaninoff composed this work in 1915 in two weeks; its exact title is All-Night Vigil (Vsenoshchnoe Bdenie), though it is known as Vespers. The recording, made in London in 1990, brings this version by the Corydon Singers closer to the English choral school and offers a sober reading of Russian sacred repertoire.
DDD stereo recording made at St Alban's Church in London in September 1990; duration 66:25; one disc.
For classical music listeners interested in Russian choral repertoire and Rachmaninoff's work.
