«West Indies: An Island Carnaval» is a Caribbean music compilation by various artists, released in 1991 by Nonesuch Classique on CD.
The album documents carnival music of the Antilles from recordings made by Krister Malm on the islands. It combines calypso and other festive music with a popular, streetwise feel, and the black-and-white cover photography reinforces its character as a sonic document.
It was released on April 17, 1991 and contains a single CD. The cover indicates that the recordings were made in the West Indies.
For fans of traditional and world music, especially those seeking Caribbean carnival recordings and historical Nonesuch editions.
