«Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not» is the album by Arctic Monkeys, released in 2006 on Domino Record Co., on CD.
The record portrays British nightlife and Sheffield's youth culture with sharp, realistic lyrics, wrapped in a raw indie rock and post-punk revival sound. The tracks «I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor» and «When the Sun Goes Down» are two of its most representative songs and capture that energy.
It was the fastest-selling debut album in UK history at the time of its release and received the Mercury Prize.
For fans of indie rock and post-punk revival, it's the debut of one of the most influential British bands of their generation.
