«Zoot» is the compilation album by Zoot Sims, released in 2010 by Poll Winners Records, on CD.
It brings together two complete albums by the American saxophonist recorded in 1956: «Zoot» and «Zoot Sims Plays Alto, Tenor and Baritone». In the first, Sims plays only the tenor saxophone; in the second, he expands the instrumentation to alto saxophone and baritone, using overdubbing to sound on several horns at once. It includes versions of standards such as «9:20 Special», «The Man I Love» and «55th Street».
The CD belongs to the series «The Most Influential Jazz Albums According to the Critics of Down Beat Magazine» and collects the 16 original recordings, with a total duration of 74:24.
For fans of cool jazz and classic swing interested in the work of one of the genre's great saxophonists.
