«A avoa canta como a cotovía» is the children's novel by Celia Díaz Núñez, illustrated by Alba Santa, published by Editorial Galaxia in paperback (112 pages, in Galician).
A boy remembers how his grandmother Oliva changes his name, sometimes Adrián and other times Toño, and is happy because she now smiles much more and sings songs he doesn't know. Through that voice, the story celebrates memory, family affection and music as a bond between generations, with illustrations that accompany the tenderness of the narrative.
It is part of the Árbore collection from Editorial Galaxia, number 276, and includes 16 interior illustrations. The book was awarded the Simbad Prize for memory and Alzheimer's 2024.
Recommended for children and young readers who enjoy close stories about grandparents, memories and traditional Galician songs.
