«A Horse Walks into a Bar» is David Grossman's satirical novel, published by Random House UK in paperback (208 pages, in English).
The action takes place in a comedy club in a small Israeli town, where veteran stand-up Dovaleh G falls apart on stage before the audience. Between jokes and confessions, he exposes an old wound: a terrible decision he had to make between the two people he loved most. A childhood friend, among the attendees, tries to understand why he has been summoned to this performance.
Winner of the Man Booker International Prize 2017. English translation by Jessica Cohen; the Hebrew original was published in 2014.
Suitable for book clubs and for readers of literary fiction and contemporary Israeli narrative.
