«A Midnight Clear» is a collection of Christmas stories by Katherine Paterson, published by Scholastic in paperback (94 pages, in English).
The author brings together twelve stories she wrote over the years for the congregation of her pastor husband. With characters living on the margins—outsiders, fugitives, immigrants, or homeless people—the stories address hope, peace, and the meaning of Christmas, and are meant to be shared aloud.
Originally published in 1995; this Scholastic edition is from January 2003. The cover subtitle is Selected Family Christmas Stories.
Suitable for children's and young adult reading, and for sharing aloud with family or in church during Christmas.

Katherine Paterson is an American writer best known for children's novels, including Bridge to Terabithia (1977), which won the Newbery Medal in 1978. She is one of four people to win the two major international awards; for "lasting contribution to children's literature" she won the biennial Hans Christian Andersen Award for Writing in 1998 and for her career contribution to "children's and young adult literature in the broadest sense" she won the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award from the Swedish Arts Council in 2006, the biggest monetary prize in children's literature. Also for her body of work she was awarded the NSK Neustadt Prize for Children's Literature in 2007 and the Children's Literature Legacy Award from the American Library Association in 2013.
