«A qué llamamos España» is the historical essay by Pedro Laín Entralgo, published by FisicalBook in hardcover (165 pages, in Spanish).
Laín Entralgo observes that in Spain several ways of living and understanding life coexist, some conditioned by ideology and others by region, and that they rarely relate harmoniously. From this observation, the essay asks what Spain is and explores its history and culture.
Work originally published in 1971; this edition is from 1992. The volume includes photographs and drawings.
A read for those interested in the history of Spain, Spanish thought, and questions of national identity and regional diversity.
Pedro Laín Entralgo was a Spanish physician, historian, author and philosopher. He worked, fundamentally, on medical history and anthropology.
